10-Year Treasury Yield Closes at 5.10 Percent

Treasury's daily par yield curve for October 15 put the 3-month bill at 4.28 percent, the 2-year note at 4.77 percent, the 10-year at 5.10 percent and the 30-year bond at 5.43 percent. Longer yields dipped from the day before, when the 10-year closed at 5.19 percent. Interest on Treasury bills, notes and bonds is exempt from state and local income tax, which matters when comparing them with bank CDs and savings accounts.
